But, first a flashback to the “DFB-Pokal” tournament of the 2018/2019 season (see https://www.vfbasia.com/post/2019/06/15/waldhof-holt-den-dfb-pokal-in-bowling-in-singapore-again for more). During that night the Fanclub’s very own Pasch-Ege-Gedächtnispreis got lost in the world-famous, upscale coastal neighborhood and beachfront of Rio De Janeiro, immortalized by "The Girls from Ipanema" in the “Obsgartentürmen” of Singapore.

7 years later the “Pokal” had disappeared again. But not to quote a famous philosopher of the early 2000s “Oops!…I Did It Again” (@Thomas R.), this time the whereabouts of the “Pott” are known (@Niklas L.), and only the trophy handover session had to do with a copy and the original will be passed to the winning team later.
Back-to-the-future, FC Bayern München managed to win the coveted trophy of “DFB-Pokal“ in Bundesliga Bowling in Singapore in the 2025/26 season relatively clearly in the end, dispatching the tired and exhausted “Boys from Cannstatt” (average age 50+ meanwhile) 128.3 to 118.0 pins average. However, no prejudice whatsoever is to be drawn for the other, less important DFB-Pokal-Finale to be played on the coming weekend in Berlin. Least alone Hamburger SV making third place with a 120.0 to 108.5 pins win over 1. FC Köln shows that Bundesliga-Bowling in Singapore is truly in its own league!
As usual, the group phase of this year’s tournament to win the “Pott” saw some hotly contested games and surprises. However, first round matches saw FC Bayern München dispatching 1. FC Köln 109.3 vs. 92.5 pins while VfB Stuttgart did win with a much smaller margin 103.0 to 99.0 against HSV. Especially new signing Cleber S. was a bit rusty in the beginning while the other new, but also by far the youngest, player Michael W. scored pin after pin despite the long, over 10 years hiatus, from bowling. The (rising) “Stern des Südens” then showed an incredible performance in the “Südschlager” against the “Boys from Cannstatt” scoring 140.0(!) pins against 121.7 pins for the host. The “Dino” beat the “Geissböcke” 99.5 to 85.5, but this round clearly showed that it is sometimes more like 1. BuLi vs. 2. BuLi bowling in Singapore. However, since there is no relegation both teams stayed in the running for the last round of the group phase and the placements for the semi-finals. Despite 1. FC Köln coming to life in the last round scoring 109.5 pins, they were no match against the Champions League aspirant from the South-West who controlled the game at all times ending on 120.3 pins. Particularly Volker C. from the team from the Rheinland outdid himself scoring a whopping 120 pins, best of the evening for him. In the shock event of the day, Hamburger SV won by a margin of 0.3 pins with 101.0 to 100.7 pins against FC Bayer München. Particularly, Kell W. and Florian O. had a “raven black day” scoring not even close to 100 pins in this game. With 3 teams on 6 points the averages of the group phase came into play putting FCB before VfB followed by HSV and deadlast 1.FC with 0 points anyhow.
“Der Pokal schreibt seine eigenen Gesetze” and nearly this also happened in Bundesliga Bowling in Singapore. In the semi-finale between VfB and HSV the latter nearly kept the upper hand pushing the “Boys from Cannstatt” to 130.7 pins while the “Jungs von der Waterkant” scored 130 pins. Markus B. with 127 pins and Yasin K. with 133 pins showed their potential to up-set any of the big teams at any time, just were not as lucky as in the previous match. Meanwhile, the “Geisböcke” came under the tyres losing with 89.5 pins to 136.7 pins against 1860, aeh I mean Bayern of course, despite Cologne’s veteran player Felix F. starting to pick up the pieces and scoring for the first time of the tournament over 100 pins in a match.
Before the match days X-scores were Bayern 121.2, VfB 116.7, HSV 105.0 and Köln 97.4. Actual results were close with Bayern 123.0, VfB 118.7, HSV 109.9, Köln 97.1, proving once more the increasing accuracy of the system developed by the SNBBF.
No changes to the order of the “Torschützenkönig” from match day 2. Hartmut D. won with 1,897 pins followed by Jürgen W. with 1,868 pins and Kell W. with a meager 1,735 pins as the bowling lanes are too oily. Celebrations were however muted due to the lost chance to defend the title of “DFB-Pokalsieger” in Bundesliga Bowling in Singapore. Adjusting to the conditions it is however expected for Kell W. to fight back next season where again “Champions-League” (in Bundesliga Bowling in Singapore) is in the mix together with the usual “Meisterschaft” and “DFB-Pokal”. Watch out for the upcoming dates of the match days!
